Community Involvement

The Orange County Community Foundation selected us along with 340 additional nonprofits to participate in the first iHeartOC. From April 21 to 22, the first 30-hour fundraising event goal was to raise 2 million dollars for nonprofits serving Orange County and it was a huge success. MCCG sends out a big thank you to those that donated. Those donations supported our Salute the Kids Proclamation ceremonies.

Proclamation Ceremony – April the Month of the Military Child

Orange County

MCCG cohosted the first Orange County Proclamation Ceremony with the Orange County Veterans Collaborative Families & Children Group in proclaiming April the Month of the Military Child. The event was held on April 23. The ceremony included proclamations from Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, Assemblywoman Young Kim, Assemblyman Donald Wagner, Orange County Board of Supervisors, Orange County Board of Equalization Diane Harkey and City of Anaheim Council.

Assemblywoman Young Kim surprised us by attending our event and offering her proclamation. She shared with the audience her goal of obtaining a State proclamation, Proclaiming April the Month of the Military Child for 2016!

We opened the ceremony with Quinn Elementary school choir. The Orange County Boy Scout Troops #163 and 1180 presented colors and lead us in the pledge of alliance and there were children guest speakers who joined us to share their experiences. Debbie Nichols accepted the local Officials’ Proclamations.  MCCG presented personalized Recognition certificates to each child and personally thanked them for serving our country. The children received donated backpacks loaded with books, journals and gift cards. Refreshments were served after the ceremony.

Thank you to OC Community Foundation, OC Veterans Collaborative and the many others that provided donated items for the children.
