Even though military connected children may be different in many ways, they all have one thing in common…a parent serving in the Armed Forces. Below is a list of the top 10 things military kids want you to know about how they feel and what they experience. This is the first step in understanding how to improve the lives of military connected children.
We are proud of our parent serving our country
We are serving too when our parent has to deploy or go to trainings
When our parent deploys, we cannot talk to them when we want
Military life is normal for us, we must be strong, “Suck it Up”
We like being recognized for our sacrifices and challenges we face living a military life
We experience separation changes and sadness
We see lots of places and new faces
We are always the new kid in school
We worry something will happen to our parents
We want other kids to understand what we go through
